Well today is the last day of computer art. I have decided to post most of the projects I have completed for the end of the class. Art is definitely different strokes for different folks and I can't say I am in "love" with all of these but some I like pretty good. Guess for a beginner they aren't too bad. Hope you enjoy.

CD Covers

The assignment was to create three possible covers for a cd we were given. These were the three original creations. The final selection was the bottom one which I changed a bit before it was completed for the assignment. The background is made from brushes I made using the bezels in the Ponce deLeon lighthouse museum and the actual staircase of the lighthouse in Daytona Beach.

Retouching and colorizing old photos takes some practice. Here is my first attempt at working on an old photo of my brother and I at his 3rd birthday...needless to say it has been a few years. The first photo is the original, the second is the colorized version and the bottom one is an illustration. All were part of a project for class.

Brushes from pictures

Three of these brushes were made from pictures taken at Daytona Beach and the lighthouse there. The other two were from around my house and yard.

Tom Waits

I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinking all night
And I don't wanna grow up
I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
Well when I see my parents fight
I donna wanna live in a big old Tomb
On Grand Street

Lyrics to Tom Waits, "I Don't Wanna Grow Old"

Dreams

Dreams are our portal to another world. They give us an opportunity to see inside ourselves as well as our imaginations. Sometimes our dreams take us back in time to a much different time which may or may not be a happier time. There are those dreams from which we awake to have a re-newed sense of life, optimism or hope...those are the fairy tale dreams we can't wait to see if they will really come true. Then there are also those day-dreaming moments that will take over our mind and take us to far away places to enjoy a life of fantasy and fulfillment. Dreams may leave us wondering just what they mean and we always hope it is will be a good meaning but sometimes not.

I'm not sure about coincidences. There have been times and continue to be when I wonder if it is just a coincidence when some things occur or if the happenings are a part of a bigger plan. I try not to spend time analyzing them. If it is a good "coincidence" I enjoy it and if not I hope it doesn't happen again.

Memory is a part of each of us. It is something that can be much like dreams in that there are good memories that we hope will always be in our "memory bank" for those times when we need a warm, fuzzy feeling renewed. But there are also those not so good memories which I have found are not as prevalent as the good ones. Fortunately, our minds are such wonderful machines that we are able to suppress or completely discharge the really bad memories that have caused us a lot of hurt or despair. The good thing about memory is that even the bad memories usually have some good memories that are attached to them somewhere along the way.
